這番恨,不但與憎恨脫鈎,更是反指「愛得不得了」,want something badly,且還會「恨到發燒」—— dying for something、dying to do something。要上位, 一般指本來在下面排隊,being in the queue,很想「打尖」插隊去霸頭位,to jump the queue。 KO 是潮語,比較傳統斯文的講法是to elbow out(用手肘撞走)、to push aside(推埋一邊)、to sideline、marginalise(把人邊緣化)等等。

上位:To stick out,有「突個頭出來」的意象,即to be prominent,受人注目的。 To stick out as a frontrunner。例句:That shoeshine boy ( 擦鞋仔) and protégé ( 馬仔) of the big boss has been dying for the chairmanship. He has successfully used calculated means to push aside his opponents to now stick out as a frontrunner.

坐正,sit up。

The boss is ousted, and the number two now gets the top job.

Oust = force out,解去職、罷黜、取代,to remove somebody from a position, and sometimes in order to take his place,指把人從一個職位移除,同時帶一點要取而代之的心。

He ousted a rival and won the seat.

英文看來沒有粵語「坐正」的對等講法,勉強可用的語帶單打一筆,是話人原本似an heir to the throne、「王位繼承人」、等待登基,終於有得ascend to the throne、升上王位; become king or queen、成王或后。

He ascended to the throne upon his father's death.
