Civic Party calls upon the electorate of Hong Kong to wake up before the meaning of “universal suffrage” is reinterpreted to deprive us of our right. There is only one true meaning of “universal suffrage” which we hold in our hearts and minds. We recognize the fake which our masters seek to foist upon us. True universal suffrage does not allow any restriction on the right to vote or stand for election where the restriction is based on discrimination on any ground. True universal suffrage recognizes the inherent dignity of every person, no matter whether he is rich or poor. We cannot have a harmonious society where the voice of some carry a greater weight than the voice of others when it comes to the ballot box and choice of representative or Chief Executive. The meaning of the ultimate aim of “universal suffrage” cannot be altered to rob us of our rights.
