「唔好lur 啦」
曾跟一個小孩子說「你唔好lur 啦」，他用英文答︰ I’ve already stopped lur-ing！
廣東話的lur，怎麼寫？這個真要請教彭志銘。但意思是明白的，像上面的對答，是請勿拖拖拉拉，還該爽快利落做好手頭的事︰
Stop fiddling and get on with what you should be doing。「停止胡混拖拉，快做應該做的事。」
有個看上去好似幾深的字，procrastination，解拖延，其實都係常用字，一樣有lur 的意思。有句名句︰
Procrastination is like a credit card, it is a lot of fun until you get the bill. 「拖延（一路lur）就像使卡數，會好開心，直至你收到賬單。」
Procrastination 的lur，一般有更深的意思，是說把要做的事不單不分輕重，且還先做輕的事，因為這輕的事比較容易、自在、好玩，把重要的事押後，沒有優先次序的觀念——the act of replacing high-priority actions with tasks of lower priority——譬如說，翌日要考試，明明應該溫書，卻先上網、上Facebook！另一款lur，指說話不流利，常常lur嘴，英文是slur。
He is so drunk, he can only slur. 他醉得只能含糊不清地說話。
一個講法，是廣東話的lur，就是源自英文的slur。Slur 作為動作，亦解treat superficially, hastily or without consideration，指用表面的、急就章的、隨隨便便的態度，總之把話帶過去就是，有草率以至詐詐諦諦的味道，常與over相連︰
He slurred over the dead man’s faults and spoke chiefly of his achievements.他對死者的過失含糊帶過，集中談其功績。
問題是，我們的lur，更有糾纏不休、nag 的意思。像：
這個學生老是lur 老師給他好成績。This student always nags his teachers to give him good grades.
她來lur 我借錢。She nags me to lend her money.
爸爸成日lur 我上教堂。My father always nags me to go to church.
這樣說來，又看不到lur 與slur 的關係了。另外，今日世界更要小心slur 這個名詞，解侮辱、中傷，an insulting remark or innuendo（含沙射影）。
That is a political slur! 那是政治中傷！
尤要小心racial（種族的）slurs——像「鬼佬」（Gweilo）一詞，有洋人不介意，但仍有外籍人士覺得這是a racial slur。
