「掂㗎啦!」
因為歷史因由，香港人日常用語時時中英夾雜，包括一句「XX 係最top」。這個top 字，既短且淺，解「頂尖」，亦即最好、最叻、最巴閉。
She is the top student in the class. 她是班中最頂尖的學生。
下面這一句，看起來一樣很淺白：Don’t worry. We’re on top of it. 別擔心，我們在這上面。「在這上面」？英文一句on top of it，另有意思，等於． Working on it ，在處理中。
． In control of it，於掌握控制中。
． Fully informed about it，知道最新情况。
也即是說，on top of it 的廣東話對口單位，幾似「掂㗎啦」、「得㗎啦」。
Don’t worry. We’re on top of it. We’ll meetthe deadline. 別擔心。我們在做功夫（掂㗎啦），會在限期前做好。
Let’s stay on top of this. 我們要一直掌握此事，知道最新發展。
The political leader fails to be on top ofissues. 那政治領袖未能掌握、處理眾多議題。
要小心的是，on top of that，又是另一回事了。這個that，是指之前、剛剛說了的事物。
On top of that = including that, in additionto that，除了（剛）已說的，還有……。
． That’s a calculating guy. On top of that,he is fairly vicious too. 那是個工於心計的人。除此之外，其人亦頗為惡毒。
． On top of a good salary, we also offerperks. 除了不錯的薪金，我們還提供福利津貼。
． On top of a sprained ankle, she caughther brother’s bad cold. 除了扭傷足踝，她還得了她弟弟的重感冒。
而on top of the world， 「在一整個世界上面」，聽上去都會估到是說極度開心、飄飄然、「威得很」：feeling wonderful,glorious, ecstatic。
It’s a new day and I’m feeling on top ofthe world.
「新的一天，我感覺好得不得了。」也就有一切從頭開始、重新出發的意思。
