「落地獄！」
在社交網站上，不時讀到叫人「落地獄！」的話，聽起來彷彿是很嚴重的詛咒。於是在西方社會叫人Go to hell，或就自以為已聲色俱厲地罵了人，卻不會收到預期的效果。當然也可以再粗暴直接點，講Damn you to hell。但在英語世界，這會給人覺得是過了頭的話。小心。
用英文說來，一個hell字往往不包含送人去受地獄熊熊之火燃燒之意，通常只是用作表示憤怒anger、輕蔑contempt、驚訝surprise，只不過用來強調語氣for emphasis罷了。
*Go to hell，惱怒地，這三字一般意思是叫人「收聲，行開」；to angrily tell someone to stop talking and go away。劍橋字典一例：
“Anyway, it’s your fault.”「不管怎樣，總是你的錯。」
“Oh, go to hell!”「走開，別再煩我！」「你去死吧。躝啦！」
也就是a crude expression of dismissal，等於叫人get lost、fxxk off之類。
*To hell with，解「已不再重要了」，有「再睬佢都傻」之意；是an impolite way of saying someone or something is not important to you any more。講THE hell with某人或乜物，意思一樣：
──To hell with this job, I quit。這是甚麼（爛）工，我不幹了。
──I’m going ahead, the hell with what they think。我自行着手去做，（懶）理他們怎麼想。
*What the hell，解「無所謂」，it doesn’t matter。
What the hell？解「乜鬼嘢？」
這裏的hell，可用f字粗口替代。
──He was running late anyway, and he thought, what the hell, he’d go get a drink first。橫豎要遲到了，他想，（媽的）不如先去喝一杯。
──What the hell do you think you’re doing?你以為你在做甚麼鳥事？
*Helluva＝hell of a，「一整個地獄的」，純用來加強語氣；形容非常巨大、無比厲害，用諸彈讚均可：
──This is hell of a blunder!這是天大的一個錯誤！
──That is helluva victory!那是無與倫比的一場勝利！
