下一個會更好？ 楊岳橋

年近歲晚，又是議員們四出做揮春街站的季節，我也開始了巡迴新界東的寫揮春長征——有一件事必須澄清：自第一天學寫毛筆字我已是這樣子拿筆，是叫吊筆也好叫甚麼也罷，大家不用大驚小怪～

今年寫揮春，除了身體健康出入平安，不少人都有頗為新奇刺激好玩的四，例如中學生的「直入」、大學生的「過三爆、已婚夫婦的「一擊即，還有單身人士的「早日」。

獨身，有很多原因，其中蘇格拉底早已告訴過我有日他叫柏拉圖走進麥，摘出一條最靚最金黃的麥條件是只能摘一次，途中不能回頭。結果柏拉圖兩手空空回來：「見到呢抽好似好靚好大，但係又覺得前面會有再好，咪一路都唔敢摘囉！」

蘇生認為「下一個會更好」是人類的劣根性；但不需要凡事都看得太哲學的，如果用科學的角度來看呢？

美國數學家Frederick Mosteller就此發明了一道公式：假設會遇到四個對象，隨便選擇的話，揀到最佳人選的機會率是1/4；如果skip掉A君，B、C君都唔心水就揀D君，則能揀到最好對象的機率是11/24，比起亂揀高出20%。麥可以亂摘，人絕對唔可以亂揀——尤其是在揀重要的人時，科學一點，比較不會後悔。

寫著寫著怎麼好像在暗示特首選舉？不是啦我只是在說擇偶。謹祝找我寫過「早日脫獨」的朋友早日脫獨，不不不，即日脫獨吧！
