二千元 湯家驊

上星期有報道一對在深水埗露宿之夫婦早前被食環署清走所有私人財物而寒衣盡去，以致丈夫冷病去世。妻子拿到政府賠償金額共二千元後哭訴： 「人命太賤了，只值二千元！」沒錯，是二千大元！

二千元可以買甚麼？喪夫的妻子買花圈已用了一千元！從屯門到灣仔單程地鐵費用也要二十九元（用八達通也要二十四元一角），二千元是不足兩月的上班車資。今天到街市要買一家四口能煮三餸之食材，未計湯在內也要八十至九十元，即是說二千元不足二十頓的家常便飯。二千元當然買不起iPad，就是電子課本閱讀器也要三百至四百元。電子課本約為真實書籍之七折，約二百一十元至二百四十元一本；二千元只可替上學的小孩買一部閱讀器及六至七本課本。二千元在今天算是什麼？

在一個物質主義的社會裡，無論你是奉行資本主義或共產主義，有時錢的價值也很容易被遺忘。今天二千元連劏房也租不上，但政府社署的綜援租津，單身人士僅可領一千三百三十五元，來年或可望增至一千四百三十九元。但問題算是解決了嗎？兩老租津根本不足租樓，才致雙雙淪落街頭，最終丈夫更賠上了性命。二千元算是我們社會的關懷指數嗎？我們的愛心，僅此而已？

你可能說每個社會都有這些令人心碎的故事，實在幫不了這麼多！但當你的親人一生只成為一個社會紀錄的數字，你會有何感想？相比我住在板間房的歲月，社會是進步了、是文明了、是富裕了。但為甚麼令人落淚的故事卻同時比那些年更多了？到底是我們的感性麻木了，還是生命的價值更低賤了？有誰能回答這些問題？
