低頭族係phubbers
Phub，指低頭掃手機的動作，旁若無人似地；phubber，就是做這個動作的人、低頭一族了。
這個字很新，大概只有兩年多的歷史，是phone+snub的混合詞，指snubbing（冷待、不理睬）someone in favour of your mobile phone，掛住用手機，不理會身邊的人及情况。
Phub讀/f?b/（跟fub同音）。也許要多強調閤口的b，以免給錯聽做F字粗口。
Phub一個詳細點的解釋，是a snub of someone in a social setting by looking at your phone instead of paying attention。
留意當中的social setting，指社交或總之有旁人的場合。也即是說，獨處時，像一個人在家玩手機，就不算是phubbing—雖然呢，家人未必同意這個。
要check手機，通常低頭。Now it seems we never look up,all heads are down wherever we are：不管身在何處，似見人人低頭，眼睛盯着手上的屏幕。幹什麼呢，不也就是急於要看Facebook、WhatsApp、Twitter、電郵等等的信息。The urge can be overwhelming，是擋不住的一份欲望。
於是有說，這是一款anti-socia lphone use，是科技帶來的「反社交」現象。The world gets more connected,people get more disconnected：世界愈多聯繫，人與人之間愈少溝通。主旨是要點出虛擬與真實世界的分別。帶點諷刺地，網上也就有個國際Stop Phubbing Campaign，停止「低頭」行動。
或會有人誤會，這個新字又是另一美國潮語，錯了，原產地是澳洲。話說當地一家字典商想為這個現象造字，請來一組專家研究。在正式公布phub後，就見一「字」風行了。
