名人教英文 – 吊吊fing = fling？揈！
叫小孩坐定定，會隨口說「不要fing 來fing 去」。這個fing 字，已用得有點約定俗成。舊時讀警方緝毒的新聞故事，就常見報道出現「fing 頭丸」，也即是說，要用英文拼出fing，是因為沒有這個中文字。
於是，一度一心一意以為廣東話的fing，借用自英文的fling，是個動詞，解「扔、拋、擲」等。
To fling off＝fing 甩
She flung off the stalker = 她fing 甩了那個跟蹤者
To fling aside＝fing 開
He flung aside the documents ＝ 他fing 開那些文件
但英文的fling，和我們口語的fing，在許多其他用法上又很不同，譬如說，叫人坐定定，一般不會講Don’t fling yourself about，淨是keep still 就好。又像提醒人不要坐fing 腳， 不講fling， 會說shake （ 搖） ：Don’t shake your leg.
近年，因為有個高官發言不經大腦，出了句「吊吊fing」的名言，然後讀彭志銘的香港潮語解說，方知原來應寫做吊吊「揈」。
這個揈字， 就是讀fing。也即是說， 應寫「揈手揈腳」。
回說英文的fling，用做名詞，就更與中文毫無相似的地方。
To have a fling at something＝To have anattempt at something＝試一試做某件事To have a fling 的當世「潮」解，卻是指短暫的affair。Affair 是「事件」，但在英語世界的對話中，若涉及的是人際事宜，指的就是男女關係，包括婚外情：
They had a fling when they were young.（他們年輕時有過一段短暫的關係。）
That was just a fling，那不過是「一時」的關係，帶一點「逢場作興」的意思。
另一個在廣東話和英文之間更見相近的發音，是dump（丟棄）。「唔要啦，dump 佢。」除了丟掉垃圾，亦解拋棄、放棄：She dumped me.（她拋棄了我。）
Let’s dump the idea＝Let’s trash the idea（讓我們放棄這念頭）而dumping，解「傾銷」，亦是新紀元用語，anti-dumping laws，就是「反傾銷法」，是國際貿易與公平競爭之間的一個恆常爭議。記得， 是dumping， 不是dumpling （ 餃子）；是dump，不是dumb（啞、蠢），不要搞亂。To dump，中文寫「」？這，要問彭志銘。
