如果命運能選擇 煲呔會否堅持8月入伙
衞生防護中心在新政府總部及立法會大樓多處地方的水樣本中驗出退伍軍人症桿菌，包括行政長官辦公室及多名局長的私人洗手間，還有宴會廳廚房、食堂廚房和咖啡室水龍頭等。報道引述官員稱「桿菌在水中自然存在，驗出菌落，不代表大爆發……」聽了心中很不舒服，憶起沙士期間亦有官員說過「沒有社區爆發」！
教育局局長孫明揚上月中感染退伍軍人症，需要入住醫院深切治療部，過年前康復出院。孫公本身患有腎衰竭，而同樣患有腎病的前高官、九鐵前主席楊啟彥於07年2月因此病去世。退伍軍人症雖未如高傳染性的沙士可怕，亦不像禽流感般，體健人士亦可致命；但對體弱者始終有高風險。
現時流感高峯期，身邊有朋友、同事患病，辦事處內還有孕婦，如有人因而染病(touchwood)，有關官員會否過意得去？不禁想：是否因為事件發生在倉促入伙的新政府總部大樓，為了政治正確，才不敢用上半句嚴詞警惕當中的公務員、上班族或訪客。其實命運已演習過，沙士事件、禽流感事件，一再提醒官員要以專業和良心處事。一些淡化言詞原則上可能沒有錯，但作為官員更需要實話實說，讓公眾得到恰當警示，否則只會令人更不安。如果命運能選擇，煲呔會否堅持去年8月入伙，好讓他在新大樓讀最後一份施政報告？
