法政隨筆 – 吹牛解藥
Off Message 並不是正式的回憶錄，而是作者在結束十三年國會議員生涯之後，對下議院政治生態發表的面面觀，筆調風趣幽默，一般讀者會看得輕鬆愉快，但對我來說，還多了不少可借鏡之處，本特區立法會近年出現的問題，原來早幾年已在「國會之母」的下議院出現了。我看不過眼的東西，也是作者看不過眼的那種東西，例如通過名為反恐而其實先剝奪個人基本的權利和自由的法例。還有：議員應可從事其他工作還是必須全職？辭職補選，在他眼中又是甚麼一回事？首相辦公廳的「政治化妝師」的高明手法造成甚麼後果？
作者雖為工黨議員，但對貝理雅極反感，認為他的自我中心和專制作風，違背民主原則，兼背叛了工黨維護公民權和個人自由的偉大傳統，其餘內閣成員，特別是兩任內務大臣及大小黨鞭，也遭他無情取笑。看完這本書，讀者會對下議院的現實情況別有領會。
但是Marshall-Andrews 寫這本書的主要目標，卻一如書名副題所示：The CompleteAntidote to Political Humbug：揭破政壇吹牛虛偽的一劑解藥。做了國會議員的人，一下子飄飄然，以為自己真的很重要，但真相是否這樣？他在書末說了這個故事。
