用英文講「執生」
執生，指事發之際會有未可知的情况、以至事故，要隨機應變。這個動作，英文係to improvise。
You improvise, you follow instinct, not just established protocol. 你要臨場自我發揮，跟隨自己的本能，而非淨跟既定的一套。廣東話就一句過： 「你執生啦！」
也就是要學會執生的藝術，don’t just do everything by the book， 「不要一本通書睇到老」，做事不能古板拘泥，一成不變。
And that’s called improvisation — using powers of discretion when and where necessary. 這就叫執生——把自己的判斷能力，在有需要的時空發揮。
The rally host just didn’t know how to improvise. 集會的主事者就是不懂得執生、不識得應變。
既是執生，當中亦包括即興、爆肚、就手變通的意思，包括to invent、provide offhand, or on the spur of the moment。
? The guest improvised a speech at the ceremony. 客人在典禮上作了即興（亦即爆肚）演講。
? The resourceful camper improvised a hammer out ofa stone. 善於變通的露營者用石頭打出一個槌。
? After the typhoon destroyed our house, we had to improvise for weeks. 颱風吹塌了我們的房子後，我們得執生執了好幾個星期。
這款執生，是manage in a makeshift way；總之頂住先，先應付着，with a sense of expediency，因時制宜，但求便利。講政治，也一樣：
This is politics of expediency. 這是政治權宜之計。另有一字，一樣是impro 開頭，是impromptu，意思有點相似，不要搞亂。記得to improvise 係動作，impromptu就用來形容，解即興的、臨時的，但就跟執生無關。
? We had an impromptu meeting. 我們臨時開了個會。? The VIP made an impromptu speech at the wedding.貴賓在婚禮上作了即興演講。
