用英文講「抵死！」
同學給老師罵， 你幸災樂禍， 說一句「抵死！」，等於書面語的「活該！」，而英文就不理死抑或活，講︰
Serves you right! 抵你㗎嘞！
如果未熟習英文， 就會覺得這句話古怪，因為直譯是「服務你是對的」。事實是， 確有外國餐廳招牌就叫Serves You Right，玩的是同字別義的pun，解「為你妥貼服務」。
Serves you right 背後的意思是You got what you deserved， 「你得到的，不就是你應得的」，這句話當然可以用作讚美肯定，但往往意思就是「你自找的」，即是我們口語的「你自己攞嚟」。
You asked for it. 「你自己要求的」。因為事情已經發生， 「你自己攞嚟」的事已經「嚟咗」，於是asked 在這個用法就是過去式。最近有高官公開勸喻年輕女子不要多喝酒，以防成為風化案的受害人，惹起一點群情洶湧—— 因為這句話屬經典的victim blaming（怪罪受害人），有「你自己攞嚟」、「抵你死」的涼薄味道。
話人自找麻煩、自討苦吃，通常帶一點馬後炮的腔調，有先見之明的「得戚」︰我都話㗎啦！I told you so! 一樣都淨係用past tense。
還有Didn’t I say so——這句就像「係咪呢」，並不真的是問題，後面不必用問號。
回說「抵死」的粵語用法，自成一家，大陸的抵死，包括鬥牛「用角抵死」鬥牛士；而在台灣，有說蔡英文抵死（解「至死」、「寧死」）不參加一場什麼選舉，跟港式用法很有分別。
廣東話的「抵死」，另一解釋是讚人字字珠璣、句句精警， 「他講嘢寫嘢好抵死！」英文可以用clever 一字概括之︰ He always makes clever comments. She always does clever remarks.
若抵死的重點是夠刻薄尖酸、夠過癮︰
Her comments are always sharp (尖銳)and pointed (到位的), sarky (尖酸刻薄的)and funnily vitriolic (有趣地懷有敵意的).
沒說出口的抵死，是心裏頭的一番幸災樂禍， 那是to gloat over。一個人gloat over 自己的事，那是洋洋自得，但gloatover 人家不幸的事，就是幸災樂禍了。
