看焦土之春
吳叡人先生8 月30 日在濟南長老教會的演講，由《立場新聞》編成文字版刊載，提出不少很有意思的看法，十分值得細讀和討論。例如「中華帝國」論， 指出「China is an empire pretending to be a nation」。香港人一說到「剩餘權力」，北京就即時嚴厲駁斥，中國沒有什麼聯邦制邦聯制而是個單一制國家——unitary state。吳叡人說其實中國不但實際上是個多民族「帝國」，而且是個比滿清帝國統治其他民族的手法更差的帝國，別說與大英帝國比較了。細閱吳文的描述，這個「中華帝國」其實是強將帝國當做單一民族國家管治，強將不同的民族同化成一個民族而不能容忍西藏、新疆、蒙古各有自己的文字和文化。現在連人口百分之九十九為漢族的香港，也興起企圖搞「香港民族論」，無怪就要用最大殺傷力武器港版國安法對付了。
可是，吳叡人認為：「港版國安法的頒布，基本上是中國治港失敗的結果，同時也是中國帝國主義沒落、中華帝國開始崩解的開端。」換句話說，他認為香港的抗爭「攬炒」成功。但正因如此，「香港要為拖垮帝國付出代價」，這代價就是香港正變成焦土。
香港正變成焦土這點，大多數香港人都有此感受，但怎麼辦呢？有沒有希望呢？吳叡人堅決地說，要懷抱希望，這是個存在的問題，即使是「賤民的希望」，也要期待終會看到焦土之春。在這最後一段，文章就比較曖昧了。我相信香港的希望遠遠不止是賤民的希望。焦土之下有很多強壯的生命在活潑地滋長。
