綠色公民 – 政府少用有機肥 余若薇

去年回收量雖然多了4萬公噸，但廚餘卻比前年增加了7%。這增長趨勢令人關注，去年堆填區的486萬公噸廢物中，廚餘佔41%。經濟好轉，往往導致更多浪費，廚餘只會繼續增加。

為了減量，綠領行動與各大餐飲業推出「少飯平一蚊」運動，消費者也需自律，叫菜要適量，吃不完可打包回家。此外，香港要透過回收處理，將廚餘堆肥。政府計劃2013年在大嶼山小蠔灣建廚餘堆肥廠，每天處理200公噸，但相對於每日棄置在堆填區2995公噸的廚餘，只是杯水車薪。

若市場有需求，或可吸引民間經營堆肥廠。不過，漁護署今年培植60萬棵樹苗，預算要花費94萬元購買肥料，當中只有3萬元撥作選購有機肥料，佔整項開支的3.2%。連政府也不帶頭大力採購有機肥，廚餘堆肥怎會有出路？
