綠色公民 – 殺駱駝救地球？
澳洲有人建議大量獵殺駱駝，以減少駱駝排出的溫室氣體甲烷及二氧化碳。支持者指駱駝是澳洲排放最多溫室氣體的動物，減少駱駝數量可以減慢地球暖化。另外，新西蘭也有屁稅，按牲口數量向牧場主人徵稅，以管制乳牛和豬羊等牲畜放屁時所排出的甲烷。
驟眼看來，減少牲口的甲烷排放可以減少溫室氣體的排放，但想深一層，碳排放量過高是人類近百年自製的問題，怎可倒果為因，將責任推向動物身上？動物千萬年來與自然共存共生沒有引致暖化問題，人類不能諉過牠們。我們應該從發電、工業生產、交通運輸、節約用電等多方面入手，才是對症下藥的藥方。
即使駱駝繁殖太快數量太多，也可以改用絕育等手段以控制其數量。殺戮──絕非解決問題的唯一途徑。
