綠色公民 – 環保齋戒 余若薇

立法會環境事務委員會主席時值伊斯蘭教的齋戒月，伊斯蘭教徒要實行白晝禁食，齋戒月譯為禁食月可能會更加恰當。

茹素其實亦有環保理由。地球上的土地與水源有限，要提供足夠食物養活世人，種植比畜牧更具成本效益。美國研究指出，生產一卡路里的牛肉所消耗的能量，是生產一卡路里豆腐的廿倍！現代畜牧業所產生的溫室氣體和動物廢料，對環境亦帶來不少污染。

熱心的環保人士提出素食救地球，不是每個人都能做到，但每月或每周進行素食，無論背後的動力是為地球環境，還是個人健康，都是一個好習慣。
