綠色公民 – 竹材產業化 余若薇

立法會環境事務委員會主席鉆板大都是用木做，每家一塊，像每戶都砍掉一片森林。近年有人提議改用竹鉆板，因為竹子生長快，以竹材替代木材，可以達到產量多，對環境資源耗用較少的雙重好處。竹的用途很多，有些公司竟可利用竹料做腳踏車甚至柔軟溫暖的毛氈子，也有公司種植竹林以抵消炭排放的污染。

內地的竹林佔地420萬公頃，佔全球四分一，去年的竹產量達每公頃25噸，佔全球三分一，有很大空間可以讓香港的研究人員和企業家發揮創意，創造新市場。

若果竹材能夠成為潮流新興物料，可望減少人類過度砍伐樹林，有助可持續發展。
