沙田圓洲角塌樹死因庭聆訊發現，康文署職員巡查樹木風險時，只是一邊踏單車一邊以目測方式集體檢測樹木，2小時內用肉眼，檢測了1,300多棵樹，更離譜是有證據顯示，有康文署職員於4.5小時內檢測了16,000多棵樹。樹博士詹志勇指，正確目測法一棵樹要一小時，批評政府粗疏，又指肇事倒下的盾柱木有個1.2米的蟲蛀大洞，沒可能看不見。兩年前準醫科生莊頌賢魂斷赤柱樹下，政務司司長唐英年之後宣布成立樹木辦，指令加強巡查樹木。可惜樹木辦徒具統籌虛名，部門仍是各自為政，也無統一樹木資料庫。長官勒令查樹，沒足夠前線人手和培訓，出現踏單車查危樹和報大數等荒唐事。還要香港犧牲多少人命，政府才會用心做事，而不是只做門面工夫，得過且過？
