英文的「扮嘢」
他病？詐病罷了。這番詐，英文是to pretend。He is not ill. He is only pretending. 他不是病，不過在裝病。把pretend 這個動作換成名詞，就更加添做作的味道。
He is not ill. It’s just pretence. 他不是病， 「扮嘢」罷了。
更直接了當地說，就是：
? He is faking it. 他在假裝（有病）。
? He is putting on an act. 他在做戲，也就是我們口語的「做騷」。
中文的扮嘢，有不同種類，上面主攻「假冒」一款，以下就指純粹擺姿勢丶作個狀，posturing。? His supposed liberal views are nothing but politicalposturing. 他那些所謂自由理念，都屬（言不由衷）政治扮嘢。
話說posturing，美國名記者Carl Bernstein 述說近代新聞學，有此名句：
“The failures of the press have contributed immensely tothe emergence of a talk-show nation, in which publicdiscourse is reduced to ranting and raving and posturing.”（ 「印刷傳媒的錯失，幫忙大大帶起了一整個美國的清談節目，由是公共討論淪為吵鬧作狀扮嘢。」）
? Don’t trust him for a second. He is only posturing.別信他，他扮嘢罷了。
若扮嘢有「遮掩」的意思，像明明生氣，卻假扮沒事，可用disguise。
? He disguised his anger to look calm.他藏起憤怒，扮作平靜。
這款扮嘢，掉轉頭，亦即to feign。Feigning calmness 扮冷靜，feigning illness 詐病，feigning madness 佯癲。
? We hate his feigning casualness all the time.我們最憎他老是作個自在沒事狀， 「扮冇嘢」。
一句老話：
Feigning unpretentiousness is worse than beingpretentious. 扮作「不扮嘢」，比真的扮嘢更差。留意英文的pretentious 多指扮優越高級，有炫耀的含意。
