行住嚟講?
英文中廣為流傳的名人金句，幾乎百分百都用字顯淺，容易明白之餘，意境雋永。To believe in something, and not to live it, is dishonest.-Gandhi任何信念，只信而不身體力行，就是不誠實。——甘地也都聽過我們口語類似的話吧，「講就天下無敵，做就有心無力」。
最終得個講字， 「有心」無力云，大概也是藉口罷了，不就淨是”talk the talk”。第一個talk，是動作；第二個talk，就是名詞了︰He is deft at talking the talk. 他最擅長說要說的話。亦即天花亂墜、胡吹大氣一派。
“Talk the talk” 後面， 通常跟一句”walk the walk”。整句意思，是講應講的話之餘，亦做應做的事。
這walk 與talk 的用法，近年因為先進手提電話的興起，有許多「邊行邊講」、”walk and talk” 的產品而至招牌，令人聯想舊時的walkie-talkie（對講機） 。於是今日口語亦可以來一句：I’m doing walk-and-talk，說自己在邊走路邊講手機。
但千萬不要誤會”walk the talk” 亦一樣解「行住嚟講」。是這樣的，今日許多人已把”talk the talk, walk the walk” 一句，簡化成”walk the talk”，做你所說的。
也就是甘地的意思，不要淨係”talk the walk”，要真正地”walk the talk”。
譯做中文，亦即「知行合一」，Backup what you say with your actions。
大家或都想起另一句類似而常聽的話吧：Practise what you preach. 叫人「說的是一套，做的要是同一套」。這跟我們日常批評人的一句，語帶調侃單打地話人「講一套、做一套」恰恰相反，不要混淆。同時留意practise 和preach 都是pr-開頭，有西式順口溜的味道。Practise，練習、付諸實行；preach，宣揚、教誨。
