語文 – 戀．英語
有朋友說，學習語文像滲透血液的一場戀愛，有苦有甜。或許開始時沒有什麼冠冕堂皇的原因，it just feels right，但在困難時刻仍不放棄，日子有功，便歷練出深厚的功架和感情，愛上學習語言的過程，語句運用得心應手。
說到愛一件事情，例如說「我愛香港」，一般會用現在式（present tense）：I love Hong Kong，因為我一直也愛這個城市，無論過去、現在、將來，五十年不變或大變，我也會留下來奮鬥，為我的hometown變得更民主和更美好而努力。早前某快餐廣告的一句I’m loving it引起不少人評論譴責，指其為bad English。
其實，以現在進行式來說喜歡，常見於歐美年輕一輩的對話。和I love it不同之處，就是I’m loving it的語意在於表達那一刻的澎湃感覺，例如美國流行歌手Estelle一首歌的歌詞也說I’m liking this American boy。如果換在廣東話，相等於我們常聽見的「好有feel」，和「我喜歡」有程度上的不同。年輕無罪，激情有理。如此看來，其實所謂bad English也是出於社會「上了位的一群人」隱晦地否認青年為社會帶來的新衝擊。
2月14日是情人節，在亞洲地區3月14日是「白色情人節」（White Day），由男生向心儀的女生回贈禮物，表明心意。表白，除了常見的花言巧語（rhetoric）之外，還可以更含蓄地表達傾慕，在朋友間聽說過很絕的一句：To the world, you are just someone; but to someone, you are his whole world。那位「某人」，原來就是眼前那位為她默默付出的「他」，女生聽了後能不「死」嗎？
