通通識 – 讀者來信：戀愛大過天？
收到大學一年級讀者Adam 來信，他說預科時常以為升上大學便會輕鬆得多，豈料功課量比中學時代更加重，大大小小的projects 和「上莊」常令人喘不過氣。這種生活令人接應不暇、疲於奔命，最近更因沒有時間陪女朋友而吵起架來。他從前熱愛閱讀英文小說，現在卻沒有時間細味，英文水平不進則退。他說： 「If only I had 48 hours a day!」（假如每天有48小時，那就好了！）
其實，學習時間分配是成長的必經階段。2008年我晉身立法會後也是同一種的學習：每天閱讀和準備文件需要一絲不苟的鑽研，有時候還要處理求助個案，為市民解決法律疑難，當然還要了解他們的訴求和需要。我在那通宵達旦的日子，時有suffocated（窒息）的感覺。
妥善地分配時間，比從前當執業大律師更難。
工作來自四面八方，而且我代表的不再只是client 的利益，而是香港人的福祉。每一個市民都有自己的故事：有專業人士、街市的「老闆」、的士司機、教師、學生、家庭主婦、退休人士……他們跟我訴說生活面對的困難，也談及心底的希望和理想。市民的信任令我感到無比光榮和幸運，這是在繁重公務中的最大樂趣，服務市民成為我人生的priority。
我相信，只要熱愛生命中的每一件事，就能把事情一一做好，學習、戀愛和工作如是。如果能和女朋友訂立共同學習目標，例如暑假共赴考英文考試，把握相處的時間，以英語交流和溝通，實在一舉兩得！
