You wouldn’t feel the pain until/unless you feel the needle，但往往說的並不真與痛有關，重點是難處、困境，總之就係辛苦，而非當事人、不是受害人，是不會明白的：
? You wouldn’t know what it’s really like.? You just can’t imagine how things were.? You simply won’t understand what will actually happen.? You’ll never appreciate the situation.
We probably would not be able to understand the actual pain suffered by the victims’ families.
To take great pains，就是不遺餘力了。
The police conducted a pains taking probe.
The teacher painstakingly explained the concept.
