I am game
Are you game? I am game 上面兩句話，看上去很淺，但未聽過就不識得。Game 有遊戲的意思，也就是問「你玩唔玩？」答： 「我玩！」 玩什麼呢？跟中文一樣，視乎上文下理就是。
例︰ We’ll go biking. Are you game? 我們踩單車去。你也來嗎？
例︰”I’m game,” he said when I told him I was buying that stock.
我告訴他我會買那隻股票，他說： 「我也買。」
例︰ We should all be running in the election. Are you game? 我們都應參選。你玩唔玩？
從這些例子看得出，Are you game?等於問人Are you in？ 「你參加嗎？」也就一樣可以答：I’m in。
西方人常說Life is a game，人生如戲，但不是戲劇的 戲， 而是遊戲的戲； The only thing you have to do is know how to play it. 最重要是知道怎麼玩這遊戲。中文少 用「遊戲」，重點是個玩字。
例︰ Politicians are good at playing the blame game.
Remember, politics is zoology 政治人最擅長玩卸責，諉過於人。記得嗎，政治是 動物學！
除了blame game，還有fair game，直譯「公平的遊 戲」。但小心有兩款解釋。
一就是字面的意思：Let’s play a fair game. 大家公平 地玩。亦即有fair play、fair competition，公平競爭之 意。
但說一個人或物是fair game，卻是老大的另一回事 了。
He was fair game. 這話是指人人有平等機會去拿下、 打倒這個人。Everyone had a fair chance to get him. 一 個人給形容做fair game，就成了受攻擊（嘲笑、佔便宜 至身體上的傷害） 目標， 是a prey、a target、a quarry。
