The Party was established by more than 100 Founding Members, with Prof. KUAN Hsin-chi as the Chairman and Hon. Audrey Eu as the Leader.

Nominated Hon. Alan LEONG to participate in the Chief Executive Election of the HKSAR to be held in the following year, leading to the historical first challenge by the civil society on the position of the Chief Executive of Hong Kong.

2007

Mr. Donald TSANG was elected the Chief Executive by the Election Committee. Hon. Alan LEONG obtained 5,100 out of 8,000 votes casted in a civil referendum project.

Civic Party participated in the District Council Election for the first time and won 8 seats ultimately.

Civic Party won five seats in the Legislative Council Election, including four seats in geographical constituencies and a seat in Legal functional constituency.

The third Annual General Meeting was held. KUAN Hsin-chi and Audrey EU Yuet-mee were re-elected as Party Chairman and Party Leader respectively.

Hon Alan LEONG and Hon Tanya CHAN resigned to initiate the 2010 Legislative Council By-election, on the manifesto of real political reform and abolition of functional constituencies, also known as ‘Five Constituencies Referendum’.

Alan LEONG and Tanya CHAN were re-elected in the ‘Five Constituencies Referendum’, the demand of ‘achieving true democracy and abolishing functional constituencies’ had been clearly shown in every vote.

Audrey EU debated Donald TSANG on proposed political reform package 2010.

2011

Executive Committee Election was held in the 5th Annual General Meeting. Dr. CHAN Ka-lok and Hon Alan LEONG were elected as the Party Chairman and the Party Leader respectively.

41 candidates were fielded to participate in 16 constituencies of the District Council Election, 7 of them won a seat.

28 candidates were fielded to participate in the Election Committee Election which is responsible for nominating and electing the Chief Executive. 24 of them were elected. The result revealed the public support to democrats’ election manifesto, including achieving true democracy and abolishing functional constituencies.

Executive Committee Election was held in the 9th Annual General Meeting. Audrey EU and Hon Alan LEONG was re-elected as the Party Chairman and the Party Leader respectively.

Vetoed the 2015 Political Reform Package which denied universal suffrage to HongKongers.

25 candidates were fielded to participate in 10 constituencies of the 2015 District Council Election. 10 of them won a seat that included 5 people re-elected, 1 people succeeded, and 4 people got new seats.

Alvin YEUNG, with 160,880 votes, won the Legislative Council New Territories East By-election.

Civic Party won six seats in each of five geographical constituencies and in Legal functional constituency in the Legislative Council Election.

36 candidates were fielded to participate in the District Council Election. 32 of them won a seat.

5 candidates were fielded to participate in the 2020 Pro-democracy Primaries in four geographic constituencies and district council (second) functional constituency respectively. Civic Party won over 73,000 votes.
