The pan-democrats from different parties and sectors joined an election event yesterday to express support for Paul Zimmerman, and to urge residents in Pokfulam to vote for Paul, the Civic Party candidate in the Southern District Council (Pokfulam Constituency) By-election on Sunday (5th Sept).
Legislative Councilors, Mr. Albert Ho, the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Ms. Cyd Ho, Legislative Councilor, and Mr. Hon Cheung, Legislative Councilor, were joined by Mr. Avery Ng, the Vice-chairman of League of Social Democrats, Mr. Chai Man Hon, Southern District Councilor for the Democratic Party, as well as Winston Chu, the Advisor of the Society for the Protection of the Harbour.
The Civic Party Leader, Ms. Audrey Eu, and Chairman, Prof Kuan Hsin-chi, appealed to Pokfulam residents to support Paul and confirmed that Paul has committed himself to Pokfulam for the long term.
Paul thanked the pan-democrats for their support and explained that the election is now tight with steady support by the Pro-Beijing camp for the other candidate. He called on democrats to come out and boost the voter turnout rate to make this a win on Sunday.
The Southern District Council democrats in the meantime will organize a volunteer cycling team to canvass voters on Saturday and Sunday.
