五區公投運動新聞稿

繼日前自由黨以反對「五區公投運動」宣傳口號為理由宣布棄選後，據傳媒今日報道，工聯會與民建聯有類似說法，民建聯副主席劉江華並說，為免社會分化加劇，該黨須盡快決定是否參選，而他個人傾向盡快表態不參與。

五區公投運動總發言人余若薇認為，兩個棄權理由十分滑稽和消極。

余若薇指出，社會分化，存在深層次矛盾，根源是包庇功能組別永垂不朽的不公義的政制，導致貧富懸殊加劇，官商勾結。因此，若要減少社會分化，急需做的事情是「爭取真普選，廢除功能組別」，即五區公投運動的議題。「爭取真普選，廢除功能組別」，不是單靠在立法會內可以解決的事情，所以要利用五區公投。在文明社會，投票是理性而和平地解決社會上意見分歧的主要方法。

余若薇亦指出，任何政黨如果不認同對手的議題、政綱或口號，正常反應不是棄選，積極的做法是派人參選，提出本身的主張，爭取選民支持自己的主張。歷次選舉證明，香港選民懂得運用手中的一票，作出抉擇。消極地棄選，是侮辱了香港選民的智慧。
