余若薇致盛智文公開信 Open Letter to Allan Zeman
Dear Allan
I am saddened to read the news relating to the dolphins. Due to the increase in tourist numbers in the summer, the 7 dolphins are required to take part in extra shows totaling as many as 6 in a day. It is reported that they show signs of tiredness during the afternoon shows. I note that you have reacted strongly to such reports
but there is no substantive reply to the observation that the number of shows have increased or that the dolphins refused to take part in the jumps required of them. Instead there is some excuse that their tiredness or stress may be due to other factors unrelated to the extra number of shows.
You have always stressed that Ocean Park is for education and conservation. Hence I hope you will put the health and welfare of the dolphins before commercial considerations and cancel the extra shows.
Greater transparency will also help to build trust with the animal concern groups. I note that they are planning a protest for Sunday 26th August. Unfortunately I will not be free to join them due to another prior engagement but I hope you can meet with them and provide more details relating to the health and care for the dolphins.
Yours sincerely
Audrey Eu
