公民黨呼籲市民全情投入「新民主運動」

公民黨與社民連就「五區總辭 變相公投」召開了新一輪會議，就如何開展「新民主運動」交換意見。兩黨已著手規劃初步的工作安排，並打算成立聯合工作委員會，成員人數及人選有待兩黨決定。委員會將於兩星期內召開第一次會議。
兩黨同意今次運動的目的，在於匯聚香港人追求民主和公義的力量，並將香港政制發展的選擇權交給人民，使全港市民在沒有「公投法」的情況下，可以體驗一次直接民主，透過身體力行，清晰表達對民主的熱愛與追求。
今次運動以「落實真普選，取消功能組別」作為今次公投的單一議題，兩黨會就請辭的時間作進一步意見交流，但預計將於明年一月內請辭，緊隨其後將會舉行動員大會及一連串的大型宣傳活動。
兩黨歡迎所有民主派朋友共同參加，推動是次運動，並呼籲所有支持民主的市民，以「零三‧七一」的團結精神，全情投入「新民主運動」之中！
對於有報導指公民黨黨魁余若薇將會出選港島區的「五區總辭 變相公投」，公民黨執委沒有就有關事件作過任何討論，特此澄清。
