公民黨就八和會館未能申請北九龍裁判法院作為粵劇學校的回應

  1. 粵港澳三地文化部門早前決定共同將粵劇藝術向聯合國?科文組織申報人類口頭和非物質文化遺產，但港府卻未能為本地粵劇提供適當的支援，今天更否決了八和會館將北九龍裁判法院發為粵劇學校的申請，可見當局的政策未能首尾呼應，扶持粵劇藝術發展的決心成疑。我們對於政府的決定感到遺憾。
  2. 八和會館早已聯絡多間弱勢社群關注團體，希望在計劃成功後，為匡智會、新生精神康復會、深水?區內的新移民互助會、香港單親協會、勞聯智康協會有限公司等弱勢社群提供就業機會，此舉不但顯示了八和會館對社會的承擔，更履行了八和會館作為社會企業的精神。我們認為政府否決八和會館的申請是社會的損失。
  3. 國際間對於如何評定、規劃、管理和保育文化遺產早已有非常詳盡的最佳準則，例如一九六四年訂立的《威尼斯約章》、一九九九年修訂的《布拉約章》及二○○○年國際組織共同發佈的《中國文物古蹟保護準則》。所有有關準則都從歷史價值、美學價值、科學價值及社會價值四方面界定物質及非物質文化遺產的文化價值。我們認為粵劇藝術發展是港人重要的文化生活，符合社會價值的準則，但政府眼光狹窄，未能重視粵劇藝術的社會價值，十分可惜。
  4. 我們認為政府否決八和會館的申請是對粵劇藝術發展的重大打擊，同時更損害了市民的精神文化生活。當局必須就上述決定向公眾作出詳細解釋。
