公民黨就有建議向特區政府就外傭居留權提出釋法的回應

公民黨留意到近日有針對外傭的言論，帶有偏見成份，甚至有立法會議員引述中央官員意見，建議向特區政府提出釋法建議。公民黨指出，已有法律學者表示無需就居留權一事釋法。原《基本法》起草委員會許祟德曾表示，《基本法》內有關的條文已經寫得很清晰，本港法院已可依法判決，無需提請人大釋法。《基本法》委員會委員陳弘毅亦曾指出本港的法律問題最好由本港法院處理。公民黨重申，政府有責任亦有方法妥善處理外傭居港權一事，不應藉詞提請人大釋法，衝擊本港法治。
黨魁梁家傑呼籲政黨、立法會議員及社會各界人士克制冷靜，切勿做出任何損害法治的不理性言行，亦不應任意公布未經查證的揣測及數據。梁家傑表示，社會應繼續以理性和以事論事的態度去討論公共事務，以達致符合香港整體需要的政策。
公民黨促請特區政府盡快向公眾解釋現行《入境條例》中，處理非本地人士居留權的準則及機制，以釋除公眾憂慮。
