公民黨立法會法律界議員吳靄儀就首席大法官李國能宣佈提早退休的聲明

立法會司法及法律事務委員會主席吳靄儀，對終審法院首席大法官李國能宣佈提早退休表示遺憾。

「作為香港特別行政區第一任首席大法官，李國能先生對建立贏得舉世尊重和香港社會信心的香港終審法院，貢獻良多。我們透過司法及法律事務委員會與之合作無間，促進司法和立法之間互相尊重及良好溝通。首席法官提早退休這個消息，雖然一時間令人難以接受，然而我們必得接受任何服務公職的人，總有一天要退下來。始終我們依賴的是建全的制度，而不是任何一個人。我最關注的是未來的首席大法官必須繼續維護司法獨立完整無缺，不受侵犯。」
