公民黨於今日致函國家副主席習近平，促請關注香港記者在新疆被毆事件，以下為信件內容：

國家副主席  習近平先生﹕

香港記者在新疆被毆事件

我們十分關注香港3名記者在內地採訪被毆打事件。

9月4日，新疆烏魯木齊市有民眾上街請願，香港兩家電視台無線電視及Now電視台共3名記者和攝影師在現場合法採訪過程中，遭當地武警扣押和毆打，後獲釋。9月8日，烏魯木齊新聞辦主任候漢敏女士在記者會上，指稱上述3名記者當天跟縱拍攝，對遊行人士指手劃腳，有煽動鬧事之嫌。

記者被毆打以及被指控煽動群眾，均為十分嚴重的事情，引起香港新聞從業員和市民高度關注，擔心香港記者日後在內地工作時的人身安全。

我們現特函向  閣下反映港人的關注，並請中央政府徹查今次事件，以正視聽，保障香港記者在內地合法採訪過程中的新聞自由和人身安全。
