公民黨：促請警方高調展開隨機抽查醉酒駕駛者

今早落馬洲發生嚴重車禍，導致6人死亡，臨近春節，6個家庭痛失至親，公民黨深表同情，向死者家屬致以慰問。
去年6月立法會表決通過《2008年道路交通法例（修訂）條例草案》，加重危險駕駛引致他人死亡的最高刑罰，由監禁5 年提高至10 年。公民黨立法會議員余若薇指出，當時公民黨議員投票支持民主黨的修訂案，把初犯酒後駕駛者停牌不少於3個的罰則提高至不少於6個月，可是，修訂案未夠票通過。
余若薇認為，法例訂明的最高罰則，以及法院的判決，均應該反映公眾不能夠容忍醉酒駕駛和危險駕駛這種累人累己的不負責行為，要有足夠阻嚇力。
此外，警方下月開始對駕駛者隨機抽樣酒精測試，余若薇希望警方在初期高調和頻密進行這項任務，廣泛宣傳，警惕駕駛者違例後果。
余若薇說，農曆新年假期臨近，市民歡慶時切勿樂極忘形，酒後駕駛，罔顧自己和他人安危，造成追悔莫及的後果。
