反對剝奪市民基本權利　公民黨議員離場抗議

去年七一遊行，22萬市民上街反對政府剝奪投票權，惟政府妄顧清晰民意，擬在保皇黨護航下，通過剝奪港人基本權利的違憲方案。

現時禁止辭職議員再參選的方案，早於政府去年7月就四個替補機制方案諮詢公眾時，已在諮詢文件中指方案「可能出現司法挑戰」，政制及內地事務局前局長林瑞麟亦向立法會承認，此方案有可能與《基本法》第26條有衝突，即「香港特別行政區永久性居民依法享有選舉權和被選舉權」，如今政府竟將此違憲方案重新包裝上場，並誤導市民方案可節省公帑。

泛民主派將堅決拒絕與政府及保皇議員一起，褫奪港人的基本權利。因此，公民黨五位立法會議員在投票否決恢復二讀條例草案後，與泛民議員一同離場抗議，徹底反對不公義、不民主，而且剝奪《基本法》所賦與市民的提名權、參選權及投票權的機制。
