毛孟靜促請發牌規管動物火葬服務

立法會食物安全及環境衛生事務委員會應委員毛孟靜要求，於今日(1月8日)會議上討論規管動物火葬場事宜。
毛孟靜表示香港的動物火葬服務監管非常落後，未能符合公眾期望，加上市民處理動物屍體的需求與日俱增，政府有必要盡快規管動物火葬場，確保有穩定及高質素的火葬服務供應。
根據政府文件，現時食物環境衛生署接收動物屍體後，將「一如其他都市固體廢物」，運往堆填區處置。政府如此態度顯示當局未有認真處理有關事宜，對動物生命毫不尊重，毛孟靜深表遺憾。
另外，動物火化服務現只受《公眾衞生及市政條例》、《空氣污染管制條例》及《2012年商品說明(不良營商手法) (修訂)條例》等監管，未有統一規管，令坊間動物火葬服務良莠不齊，造成環境衛生、空氣污染及不誠實服務等問題。這令不良動物火葬營運商附近的居民商戶受到滋擾，亦使動物主人再一次受到心靈傷害。
毛孟靜促請當局盡快訂立牌照制度，規管動物善終服務，並於較偏遠地區撥地作興建動物火葬場之用。動物火葬服務市場有供有求，政府有責任提供良好營商環境，令服務供應商安心營運，亦令動物主人安心送所愛的動物最後一程。
