湯家驊歡迎香港2020今天提出一個，專注提名委員會組成和運作的特首選舉政改方案。他表示，正如不少國際憲法及人權專家，在今天香港大學法律學院比較法與公法研究中心舉行的政改研討會中指出，只要提委會之組成，能達至有真正廣泛代表性，和沒有篩選功能，提委會作為一個提名機構，仍是可以符合國際人權公約第二十五條之要求。
然而，港府將在五月政改諮詢結束後，向北京提交政改報告，但時至今日，社會對提委會之組成和運作的討論，實在是太少和不夠深入。湯家驊期望香港2020的政改方案，能進一步推前這方面的討論。
湯家驊亦藉此機會重申，他去年十月提出之政改方案，正是希望能便利社會加深這方面的討論。事實上，從他提出政改方案第一日至今，湯家驊不斷強調他的政改方案，並非單是一個提名程序之建議，而是一個完整、全面、無篩選的政改方案。這方案與其他坊間正討論的提名方法如公民提名，並無排他性或表面矛盾，亦可共存。湯家驊殷切期望社會能以理性務實之態度，尋求一個無篩選之真普選方案。
