要求古諮會正視北角皇都戲院獨有價值 考慮評為一級歷史建築物及保留特有建築

就近日有關北角皇都戲院保育一事，古物諮詢委員會提前於今天開會，討論是否將戲院評為三級歷史建築。一直跟進事件的公民黨副主席陳淑莊女士及東區區議員鄭達鴻先生對此表示極度關注，並於會議前作請願行動，敦促政府為北角皇都戲院的歷史價值作更詳細研究，要求主席林筱魯先生及其他委員正視北角皇都戲院的獨有價值，認真考慮調高皇都戲院的評級至一級歷史建築。我們亦期望政府盡快開始與業權人商討保育方案。

陳淑莊認為皇都戲院未有在香港被確認為歷史建築或法定古蹟的情況下，便有國際保育組織(Docomomo International)對戲院發出「文物危急警示」(Heritage in danger)，並去信古諮會主席建議古諮會牽頭鼓勵保留戲院，是再一次證明香港政府對保育的觸覺及反應都比國際社會緩慢，而古諮會後知後覺，更有機會令富有獨有特色及歷史意義的建築失去公平評級的機會。她促請政府、古諮會及地產商聆聽社會對保育皇都戲院的訴求並作出正面回應。
