陳淑莊與梁家傑分別在香港島與九龍東報名參選

陳淑莊上午率先報名參選，出席支持者包括代表公民黨出選九龍東的公民黨副主席梁家傑、公民黨主席關信基、黨魁余若薇、立法會議員吳靄儀、秘書長陳家洛；社民連主席及黃大仙區議員陶君行、區議員曾健成(阿牛)、梁國雄、古桂耀、麥國風等。

梁家傑其後到黃大仙民政事務處遞交報名表格，參加5月16日舉行的立法會補選(九龍東)。民主黨黃大仙區議員徐百弟、黃國桐；民主黨觀塘區議員黃偉達、黃啟明均有場支持。

梁家傑再一次呼籲市民在5月16日投票：「立法會現時是分組點票，工商界特權透過他們於議會內的代言人，完全操控很多與民生攸關的議案，令政策出台時不平衡。今次公投焦點在於「全面落實真普選，廢除功能組別」，市民應利用手中一票，令香港更加公平。」

梁家傑希望傳媒為公投舉辦選舉論壇，讓市民參與公共事務的討論：「投票機會得來不易，公投引發了「全面落實真普選，廢除功能組別」 的議題，選舉論壇可以將議題深入民心，讓取消功能組別的議題有更大機會曝光。」

社民連主席陶君行表示：「我在此呼籲市民５月１６日去投票， 今次不是補選般簡單，我們可能以後沒有機會一人一票表達爭取普選的訴求，表達對民主制度的支持。零三零四年七一遊行的人數，警方說是三十萬、有人說五十 萬、七十萬，但今次我們以每一人一張選票清清楚楚計算。九龍東是基層選區，我們更加要為改善民生投一票。」
