香港空氣質素轉壞 超出世衛指引10倍 

香港空氣質素在最近一星期急促轉壞，公民黨對此深表關注，認為政府不應再拖延處理空氣污染的問題，否則將會令更多香港人的健康受損。

今早凌晨環保署中環路邊監測站錄得的空氣污染指數140，而深水埗一般監測站亦錄得110，空氣污染水平同屬於甚高，顯示空氣污染情況極之嚴重。

根據香港大學達理指數的數據，空氣污染物大量累積在香港的空氣中，其中可吸引懸浮粒子超出世界衞生組織指引的標準10倍，而二氧化氮和氮化物亦超出指引5倍；在過去5天(由2009年1月19日至23日正午)，可導致24人提前死亡，增加1630個留醫床位日數，增加139,686次求診次數和令香港損失4,556萬港元。

公民黨黨魁余若薇表示，空氣污染已惡化到影響公眾健康，對政府拖延向立法會交待最新改善空氣質素的進展感到失望。立法會環境事務委員會改善空氣質素小組上週邀請政府官員於二月向小組交待改善空氣質素政策和措施的最新進展，但政府官員只答允待至三月才出席小組會議。

余若薇又敦促政府盡快按世衞空氣質素指引，更新香港的空氣質素指標，讓市民可以更準確掌握空氣污染的程度。
