公民黨回應「亞洲電視有限公司及電視廣播有限公司的本地免費電視節目服務牌照續期事宜」意見書

睇電視向來都是香港普羅大眾晚上的主要娛樂消遣，有些電視節目更是膾炙人口，成為市民茶餘飯後話題。由此可見，電視節目對市民是一種有助減壓的飯後娛樂，故電視節目的質素是十分重要，以及電視台的營運模式都會影響節目的質素。

同時，電視廣播的大氣電波是重要的公共資源，大氣頻譜有限使兩間免費電視台壟斷香港的免費電視頻譜。對市民生活、社會輿論及文化有深遠影響。香港對上一次為免費電視台續牌已是12年前，適逢今次通訊事務管理局就亞洲電視有限公司及電視廣播有限公司的本地免費電視節目服務牌照續期事宜作公眾諮詢，公民黨現就兩間電視台的節目質素、發表內容的真實性及罰則缺乏阻嚇力等問題提供意見，從而令市民能觀看有較高質素的電視節目。
